Track Name: On Knowing
the height itself speaks: an oath is sworn from the base to the peak, and you drift towards that promise. as ghosts only grow more opaque, lives don’t end, only dissipate. what makes you feel invisible makes you want to stay invisible, makes you want to stay unchanging, everything said worth saying, every position a posture, every motion a movement, every statement a silence. diminished as expressed, if perfectly literate, or remain in the body, hidden in the breath, scratched into the “I”s, and you sink and rise and sink and rise and sink again. presented formally, carefully shaped into the sharpest sounds to describe what’s gone from the form of me, I’m always already decided, I’m always already determined, I’m always already remembered for the way I departed. It’s not the knowledge it’s the knowing, as if you could know anything without knowing everything, as if you could say anything without saying everything. there’s no quiet world within, no shining secret inside. nothing asks permission. nothing revealing hides. it’s just that things grow false as they move away. I just want to mean the things I say.
Track Name: Year One
how are the changes signified? is there anything to move towards but signs? how long have you been there watching? did time doing the telling while I was talking? is this another false start? am I the engine? what else did the chorus of presents fail to mention? what if every direction collapsed? would you help me key this map? what if the body itself is the trap? could the final breath shore up the fact? if nothing moves, nothing’s seen, it still recedes incrementally, it’s all greens reflecting greys, nights collapsed into days, shores shattered into waves, would you stay with me until the end? is it too late to start again? is it too late to start again?
Track Name: The Place Inside The Blizzard
where is that endless sky? where could such brightness hide? what’s worth chasing that the body can’t outlast? where goes the word when its time has passed? is there a silence I can live by? negating, neverending, insistent, complete, consistent refusal: to erase the question as the answer. [but] without a witness what is the act? if you signal out and nothing signals back? speak as metaphor what you only know as fear: try to name the evil you ran from all last year. is the coldest, hardest heart the strongest shining center? what steady hand could pry that dream apart? you will stay here forever. you are entitled. you are enabled. you are the agent. you are the author. you are the audience. you are the architect. everything I do Is determined by intention. every way I move points in that one direction. in this place there is no other place. there is no other side. there is no other self, passed on, or passed through. no battles won, no curse undone. to make the choice, you have to be there (you have to breathe there). you will stay here forever. acting like you have a choice, you will never be free. you will never be free.
